IDBS Press Release

IDBS to Host London Translational & Biomarker Research Symposium 2011

Industry Experts Share Best Practices in Translational Medicine to Advance Healthcare

Guildford, UK, and Burlington, Mass., October 11, 2011 - IDBS, a global provider of innovative data management, analytics and modeling solutions, today announced it will host its 3rd annual Translational & Biomarker Research Symposium (TRS) on Wednesday October 19, 2011 in London.

The healthcare field is moving towards a new era in personalised medicine. This exciting development brings with it many challenges, namely how to integrate the rapidly growing availability of clinical, molecular and other research information. IDBS is shaping the future of personalised medicine by working with many UK hospitals, such as King’s Health Partners, as well as the Technology Strategy Board, to provide a platform to  bring genetic information into a clinical environment and ultimately improve disease understanding and patient outcomes.

The London Symposium reflects the UK’s increasing presence as a centre for these pioneering developments in healthcare. Presenters will discuss the drive towards personalised medicine including:

  • Addressing data challenges around the explosion in Next Generation Sequencing data, access to clinical data and bottlenecks in accessing bioinformatic and statistical analytics
  • Supporting secure translational medicine collaboration between academic medical centres, pharmaceutical and diagnostics organisations

The symposium features international experts who will share their best practices in this new frontier for healthcare.

Speakers include:

  • Professor Alan Ashworth, Chief Executive, The Institute of Cancer Research
  • Professor Peter Parker, Deputy Director of the Integrated Cancer Centre, Head of the Division of Cancer  Studies at King's College London and Co-Director of the King's College London Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre
